The kanji 割 means proportion, comparatively, divide, cut, separate, split. Its on’yomi (Chinese-derived reading) is カツ (katsu); its kun’yomi (native Japanese reading) is わ.る、わり、わ.り、わ.れる、さ.く (waru, wari, wari, wareru, saku). It is written with 12 strokes, under radical 刀 (no. 18).
