The kanji 覚 means memorize, learn, remember, awake, sober up. Its on’yomi (Chinese-derived reading) is カク (kaku); its kun’yomi (native Japanese reading) is おぼ.える、さ.ます、さ.める、さと.る (oboeru, samasu, sameru, satoru). It is written with 12 strokes, under radical 見 (no. 147).
