The kanji 懐 means feelings, heart, yearn, miss someone, become attached to, bosom, breast, pocket. Its on’yomi (Chinese-derived reading) is カイ、エ (kai, e); its kun’yomi (native Japanese reading) is ふところ、なつ.かしい、なつ.かしむ、なつ.く、なつ.ける、なず.ける、いだ.く、おも.う (futokoro, natsukashii, natsukashimu, natsuku, natsukeru, nazukeru, idaku, omou). It is written with 16 strokes, under radical 心 (no. 61).
