The kanji 痛 means pain, hurt, damage, bruise. Its on’yomi (Chinese-derived reading) is ツウ (tsuu); its kun’yomi (native Japanese reading) is いた.い、いた.む、いた.ましい、いた.める (itai, itamu, itamashii, itameru). It is written with 12 strokes, under radical 疒 (no. 104).
